A transition, and even more about comics
Hey everyone. It’s been a while, and I’ve been reflecting a bit. The last three months have been a lot of fun. I’ve really enjoyed looking for treasures, sharing them with the folks who read this newsletter or follow me on social media, and then, in most cases, selling them on eBay or Amazon. In three months, I’ve taken this project from a hobby to a “side gig” with a path to “legitimate business,” which is wild! I seem to have just enough knowledge about collectibles to make money doing this. But I also still have a lot of things to figure out in terms of how to achieve balance between this new goal and all the other life goals and priorities that I’m balancing right now.
That is not to say I’m taking a pause. I’m just going to transition things a little bit. As I’ve gotten more into buying and reselling, I’ve had less time for the communities that I am a part of. For the next 6 to 12 months, I anticipate spending less time buying and selling stuff and a bit more time building social capital.
So what does that look like? Well, I had to start somewhere, so I’m starting with comics. I may have said in the past that this isn’t really about comics and, and I still feel that way. This is just a little detour. I’ll be shifting these newsletters and my social media content towards what I’ve been calling “value investing in comics,” but with a twist. The twist is that I want to have more interaction with comics creators and other fans. For those of you who may be reading this who don’t care about comics, I hope to circle back around to other treasures soon! For those of you who are interested in comics, I’m refining some things and I to share more about what I’m working on soon.
I hope it works, and I hope you come along for the ride.
